Chad Layman
As President of Marquam Group, Chad sets the strategic direction for the company and is responsible for overall company performance. Under his leadership, the firm has grown into one of the Northwest's premier IT professional service firms.
Chad joined Marquam Group from Claremont Technology Group to establish Marquam Group's development practice. Bringing a wealth of experience from a wide array of various industries, Chad applies a creative approach to solving business problems with technology. He holds a degree in Business Administration with an IT emphasis from Oregon State University.
With two young children at home, these days Chad spends less personal time on previous pursuits such as skydiving and triathlon and more on diapers, finger paints and reading. Chad's bookmarks have recently spent their time tracking progress through The Black Swan, Super Crunchers and a re-read of Siddhartha.
John Pontefract
As a founding partner and Executive Vice President, John manages operations and provides leadership in the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the organization.
John possesses a combination of Big Six and start-up experience previously working at Interliant, one of the original leaders in the Application Service Provider space, and as a consultant for Arthur Andersen. John began his career as a mechanical engineer and holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Rice University.
Outside of Marquam Group, John is the founder of Portland Fit, a marathon training program that trains over 1300 members per year.
Martin Wells
Marquam Group's Vice President of Delivery, Martin Wells is responsible for the successful delivery of all our projects. A follower of the Rational Unified Process methodology, Martin expertly navigates the churning tides of any project, including estimation, development, and delivery. His efforts result in lower risk for our clients and increased visibility into the software development lifecycle.
Martin joined Marquam Group from Claremont Technology Group and American Express, overseeing projects of significant size and complexity. Comfortable with a development team or with IT executives, Martin's experience and expertise provide our clients with a peace-of-mind grounded in a logical approach to solving real-world business problems.
Outside of Marquam Group, Martin enjoys any outdoor activity. An expert Ultimate Frisbee player, he once represented England on their national team in world competition.
Brad Paris
Brad leads our business development effort in the public sector. Our clients appreciate the high level of customer service and account management that he brings to every engagement.
Brad has been an integral part of Senior Executive teams in growing enterprises for more than 15 years. He utilizes his deep background and experience in Finance, IT and Supply Chain to help our clients drive business results through the use of improved information systems. He brings a practical approach to difficult IT strategic decisions including; make versus buy decisions, software selections, total cost of ownership calculations and project justification analysis.
Brad earned an accounting degree from the University of Oregon and went on to become a CPA. Outside of work, Brad can usually be found coaching one of his kids' softball, basketball or soccer teams. He's an avid Hockey player and enjoys playing guitar.
